Meet the Artist

Makarevičius is a Lithuanian painter known for expressive brushstrokes and raw portrayals of everyday life. Since 2017, the Vilnius Station District—where he has lived for many years—has become a key source of inspiration. Through thick paint, humor, irony, and subtle distortions of reality, he transforms ordinary situations into vivid, multifaceted narratives that raise more questions than answers.
At the center of his work are people and their relationship with their surroundings. His paintings feature colorful, slightly hooligan-like characters often marked by three white stripes—a recurring symbol reflecting the energy, diversity, and contradictions of the Station District. Blending wit with deeper symbolism, Makarevičius turns stereotypes into charismatic figures while exploring the absurdities and richness of human experience.
